Food is a type of item in Boing Boing Animals used to increase the fullness of a slime, as well as their growth EXP. Different foods affect the slime's next stage of growth.

Accessing

The player can access the Food Food menu through the main menu in the top row. They can also tap on the fork-and-knife speech bubble that appears above a hungry slime. Once the food menu is open, the player can drag a piece of food on top of a slime to feed them.

Normal food types will be available to feed at the start of the game. Special foods will appear locked in the menu and can only be unlocked by purchasing certain themes. Once the theme is purchased, additional quantities of the associated special food can be purchased from the store.

Behavior

A hungry Baby Slime with a food bubble above their head.

Slimes can be fed once their fullness reaches 85% or below, as long as they are not sick. Each piece of food eaten restores 25% fullness, allowing a hungry slime to consume 4 pieces before they reach maximum fullness. Slimes will consume each piece of food in three bites.

The player can view a record of all foods and their quantities given to a slime within their growth stage by tapping on the small fork-and-knife button in the slime stats menu. This button will not appear if the slime has not been given any food since their growth or if they are an adult.

Growth EXP

A slime will receive some growth EXP when fed. The amount of growth EXP is increased when a slime eats their favorite food, which can be found by tapping on the slime and viewing the highlighted item in the Food menu or in their info card.

For any slimes with food-specific growth requirements, only the highest amount of food eaten within its current growth stage will be counted. If the slime has eaten equal quantities of two or more foods, those foods will equally be weighed in determining the next stage of growth. For example:

  • If a slime has eaten 3 Bone Bones and 2 Carrot Carrots, only the Bones will be considered at the time of growth and the Carrots will be ignored.
  • If a slime has eaten 2 pieces of Honey Honey and 2 pieces of Star Candy Star Candy at the time of growth, both Honey and Star Candy will be counted.

Foods

Foods can be grouped into two categories:

  • Normal food - Labelled as "Food" in the Item Info screen, these foods are available at the start of the game and can be provided infinitely without having to refill at the store. Each regular food is linked to at least one kiddo as a growth requirement. There are 10 normal food types.
  • Special food - These food types are unlocked upon purchasing certain themes, which are indicated on their description in the store. The player will be given 5 of a special food after purchasing the associated theme and that particular food will be included as a possible item to buy in the store. Most special foods cannot be fed to Baby Slimes. There are 11 special food types.
